Below are some basic steps to troubleshoot issues if a videoconference connection isn't working:
If your video connection isn't good (issues with audio or video):
- End the call and try again
- Check to make sure that the other endpoint is on. This is when having a phone number for the other site is handy!
- When all else fails, restart the equipment. Many times that will help if the equipment has been on for quite a while.
- Check the power cord and the power strip to make sure everything is connected.
- Check the power switch on the codec to make sure it is turned on. It could possibly need to be turned off and then back on.
- The monitor or the projector may not be on. Many monitors "go to sleep" after a certain amount of time and you may need to "wake it up" by pushing the the power button on the monitor.
- Check the remote control's batteries.
- Check power connections to the display.
- Check to make sure that the video display is set to the correct source and not a channel.
- Check to make sure that the cables are properly connected on the display and that the display is connected to the Display output on the back of the codec.
- Make sure you see the IP address on your home screen.
- Make sure the network is available by calling another address (see Test Call page)
- Check that the Ethernet cable is plugged into the correct port on the bacl of the codec.
- Check to make sure the Ethernet cable is plugged into an active port on the wall.
- After disconnecting and reconnecting the cables, I would suggest restarting the systems.
- Check to make sure that your speakers are connected properly or that the monitor is connected correctly.
- Make sure that all locations are not muted and that the volume is turned up on the speakers or the display.
