Fayetteville-Manlius School District - September 2014
From evaluating Board goals to differentiating instruction, the Fayetteville-Manlius School District is using data to inform, improve, and assess student learning.  The mission of the F-M School District is to provide excellence in education for all students.  In accordance with that mission, the F-M Board of Education established five district goals.  But simply establishing the goals was not sufficient.  The F-M Board went a step further and identified metrics associated with each goal to measure progress.  By employing a custom designed District Dashboard, these metrics are tracked across multiple years to identify trends and areas of interest.  District and building administrators regularly report to the board on appropriate measures reported in the dashboard and use the data to ask questions and dig deeper into student performance results.

District and building personnel review data from COGNOS reports as well as CNYRIC developed applications to evaluate state assessment performance.  From a district perspective, state assessment results are reviewed and compared with regional results to identify areas for program improvement.  At the building level, intra-district data is used to examine and improve instructional practices.  Department leaders at the high school utilize reports from PACE FastScore and ASAP to receive immediate feedback on student Regents’ results.  With the assistance of CNYRIC staff, they are then able to use these and other reports to dig deeper into assessment results to refine instructional practices.
At the individual student level, multiple assessment measures such as AIMSweb and locally developed benchmark assessments are used to gauge student progress.  Multiple measures of data are triangulated to evaluate student performance and differentiate instruction.  Students who are not meet performance standards are identified to receive additional supports and interventions.  The effectiveness of those interventions are regularly measured using progress monitoring techniques.

From the board to the classroom, F-M is truly data driven.
