ITD Mobile Learning Cart

Preparing for BYOD

The CNYRIC's Mobile Learning Cart service provides districts with information and support for the instructional use of mobile technologies like iPads, Google Nexus 7 Tablets, and Google Chromebooks and is meant to help districts make informed decisions around purchanse and/or implementation.  



I. Pilot Process

        A. Pre-Pilot meeting

                1. ITD and district administrator(s)

                2. MOU

                3. Discuss Pilot details

                        a. Type of Pilot

                        b. Teacher/grade level, content area

        B. Initial Pilot meeting

                1. ITD and district staff (teacher(s), support staff)

                2. Discuss Pilot details

                        a. Unit/Lesson/Project goals

                        b. Device management

                        b. Technology comfort level
                        c. Available resources (i.e. wifi, filtering restrictions, other software/hardware concerns)

                        d. Dates

                        e. Data collection tools

        C. Planning Meeting

                1. ITD and teacher(s)

                2. Discuss Pilot details

                        a. Length of Pilot

                        b. Content

                        c. Applications, websites

                        d. Develop project(s)

        D. Pilot in the Classroom: 4 weeks

                1. ITD, teacher(s), students

   2. 6 days: 2 days to start, 1 day per week during Pilot, 2 days to end

                3. Data collection: survey/interviews for teacher(s) and students

        E. Post-Pilot meeting

                1. ITD, teacher(s), district administrator(s)

                2. Pilot evaluation
