OCM BOCES is pleased to announce that Chantal M. Corbin, a 14-year technology coordinator and principal in the Fabius-Pompey Central School District, will become the new director of the Central New York Regional Information Center (CNYRIC) as of Jan. 25.

Corbin will replace CNYRIC Director Pam Mazzaferro, who is retiring Jan. 8.

OCM BOCES District Superintendent Matthew L. Cook, Ed.D., said Corbin is an excellent candidate for the CNYRIC position because of her extensive experience in educational technology, her familiarity with OCM BOCES services and the needs of local districts, and her passion for utilizing technology in a way that will best support student learning.

“Ms. Corbin is incredibly driven and enthusiastic about the opportunity to lead the CNYRIC,” Cook said. “As a consumer of CNYRIC services and an educational leader in our region, she understands how crucial these technology services have become in supporting the instructional practices of our teachers and for the overall operation of our school districts and BOCES.”

The CNYRIC is a division of OCM BOCES, which supports 23 component districts in the region. The CNYRIC also provides technology services and programs to 27 additional school districts and three other BOCES, including Citi (Oswego), Cayuga-Onondaga and Tompkins-Seneca-Tioga. Services include educational data services, classroom and instructional applications, network security and operations, managed technical support, printing, financial services, and more.

Corbin began her work as a technology coordinator in Fabius-Pompey in 2008 and continued that role when she was selected to become principal of Fabius-Pompey Elementary School in 2017. Prior to her duties as building principal, Corbin also worked as the coordinator of Pupil and Personnel Services from 2014-2017 and as an administrative intern in the district’s business office. Her other roles in Fabius-Pompey included three years as athletic director, seven years as an assistant principal for the middle school/high school, and 10 years as chairperson for the Committee on Special Education.

Her educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in education and K-12 physical education from SUNY Brockport, a master’s degree in education and K-12 health education from SUNY Cortland, a Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS) for school building and district leader from SUNY Cortland, and a CAS for school district business leader from SUNY Cortland.

In her application for the position, Corbin said she is very excited about the opportunity to lead the CNYRIC and is confident that her skills as a building and district leader “will transition in a way that allows me to effectively manage the resources of the RIC to provide the best service to the districts it serves.”
